Screen Skills Ireland presents: Scoring the Documentary – Nainita Desai (composer, For Sama)
In partnership with Screen Skills Ireland, Guth Gafa presents a workshop aimed at composers and musicians who already work in film, and specifically have an interest in writing music for documentary. The workshop will offer practical skills to film composers, musicians and documentary directors, on writing music for documentaries, the director/composer relationship, and pitching for ‘music scoring’ work. With a career spanning over two decades as a composer, BAFTA Breakthrough Brit composer, Nainita Desai’s work traverses the worlds of film, television and games. Her musical foundations are rooted in world music, and in documentary she has forged an enviable reputation, working with leading filmmakers on numerous projects that have garnered OSCAR, BAFTA, EMMY awards and nominations.
Nainita has recently toured around the UK with the film, For Sama, as part of the Birds Eye View Reclaim The Frame initiative, which is a BFI Audience Fund backed initiative that aims to grow audiences for films told from the female POV.
Admission to the workshop is free, but tickets must be booked online. The workshop will take place on SUNDAY 17th at 2pm.
