5th Festival - a great success
At Guth Gafa 2010, there were 35 film screenings in total, and 29 international and Irish directors were in attendance, part of an industry guest list of over 100 people. 9 screenings were fully sold-out, and average attendances were over 70% of capacity in the 3 venues in Gortahork. Industry events wer also well-attended, leading to a weekend of stimulating discussion and debate.
Sold-out screenings included the 2 Irish films, His and Hers, by Ken Wardrop, and Gilbert O'Sullivan - out on his own, by Adrian McCarthy. Other sold-out screenings included Divorce Iranian Style by Kim Longinotto, who was attending as a special guest of the Festival, and The Horse Boy by Michel Orion Scott.
Special guests of the Festival included the film directors from 15 diferent countries, Mr Beat Loeliger, the Swiss Ambassador to Ireland, Minister for Communications, Eamon Ryan, Chief Executive of the Broadcast Authoriity of Ireland, Michael O'Keeffe, and singer-songwriter, Gilbert O'Sullivan.
The Festival team would like to thank all our guests and visitors, our sponsors and funders, our volunteers, and all the people of Gortahork. Without all of your support, the 5th Guth Gafa International Documentary Film Festival wold not have been possible. Thank you all so much.
